Together, the former Premier League footballers have secured 15 significant honors and transferred for combined transfer sums of around £123 million.

Well-Known Names and International Stars

Ireland began turning out for the side during preseason this summer through close friend and current team player Blake Norton, and the ex- Irish midfielder then asked additional ex-pros, who all play in a midweek small-sided match, to participate.

"That movement is what I'm seeking. It's enjoyable."

In addition to Cisse's six scores on his first game, Stephen Ireland has scored eight in 3 appearances for Wythenshawe, while Boyd scored five on his first match and Lescott, a defender by position, scored a hat-trick in one game as a striker.

The team are top of the Top Tier with three victories from three and a GD of plus nineteen.

Paul Barrow, 38, who features on the wing for Collegiate OB, came up against ex- Latics full-back Maynor Figueroa on Sunday - and had to tell his nine-year-old boy who Heskey was.

"It was going round like wildfire they had these former top-flight stars," remarked Barrow.

"I felt I was a little starstruck playing against Figueroa to be honest.

"Also Heskey got on and he's has 60-odd England caps.

"Our side competed well for a solid twenty minutes but then we had a player dismissed and it was hard.

"Our group really have not ceased talking about it - I was calling my mum and brother on the journey home.

"The opponents were all dead sound, shaking our hands after the game - it was like facing a bunch of regular fellas.

"Now we are eager for the second match."
