EU Officials Condemn US Move as ‘Coercion’
European leaders including Emmanuel Macron accused Washington of “coercion and intimidation”, following the travel bans targeted individuals that were central to campaigns to enact legislation governing US-based technology firms.
“For too long, ideologues in Europe have led coordinated campaigns to pressure American platforms to suppress American viewpoints they oppose,” stated the US secretary of state online. “This government will not stand for such actions of censorship beyond its borders.”
