Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the main group to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the group enter areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be where in the season’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
